The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For
It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.
The Dream Vehicle
Although most gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car Homer built personally in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the enormous vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the family's everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic element of the series. And for players who pay attention to Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
And it's not the only cosmetic from the show arriving in the game. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to earn additional goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"
While the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems players will also get rims with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which brings a brand-new map of the fictional town, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and concludes on November 17th.
