Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
