Heaton Park Synagogue Attack: One Victim Appears to Have Been Shot by Officers
During a devastating turn of events, one of the victims killed at the Heaton Park synagogue attack is believed to have been shot dead by law enforcement personnel.
Official Statement Reveals Firearm Injury
The senior officer of Greater Manchester Police announced that the Home Office pathologist has initially concluded the man succumbed to a gunshot wound.
âOvernight, we have taken advice from the Home Office pathologist ahead of detailed autopsies scheduled for this afternoon. The Home Office pathologist has advised that preliminary findings show a victim would appear to have suffered a wound matching a firearm wound.â
Attacker Information
The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, was not carrying a firearm, and the only shots fired were by the police officers on site.
It is believed the victim was part of the group behind the synagogue door trying to stop the assailant from gaining entry.
Consequences of Police Action
âIt follows therefore pending additional analysis, this injury may sadly have been sustained as a unintended and heartbreaking result of the necessary rapid response employed by our personnel to halt this brutal assault.â
Victims Identified
Both individuals who lost their lives at Heaton Park synagogue located in Manchester earlier this week had been named as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, 66 years old.
The men lost their lives when a car was used to ram into the grounds of the local Jewish place of worship, before the attacker targeted attendees in a brief violent spree that concluded after armed officers fired upon him, ending his life at the door of the temple.
Additional Injuries
Three others were seriously injured in the violent act on the Day of Atonement, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish year.
The chief constable added, âMedical professionals have informed us that one of the three victims currently receiving treatment has also suffered a gunshot wound, which is fortunately non-fatal. Officials think both victims were close together behind the synagogue door, as attendees showed courage to prevent the attacker from gaining entry.â

Suspect Background
Police named the perpetrator as Shamie, thirty-five, a UK national of Syrian origin.
Local law enforcement reported that three other people â two men in their 30s and an older female â had been arrested âon suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist activitiesâ.
