In a bizarre crossover event that defies conventional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Uncovered

According to the authorized statement, "A strange meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of forbidden rituals and terrifying transformations echo through the darkness." The plot presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.

The questline focuses on "strange tests and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an special katana in addition to several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Content

This release also introduces the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
