A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly left her a recorded message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has repeatedly asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told communication data and evidence retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test during that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most covered investigations and remains unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

A separate recorded message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I know I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine was, but I feel what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the recording stated.

The panel was advised that by means of emails, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, a data specialist with the police force who gathered the information, told the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to family friends of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in that area in last December.
